Hey! Give me my comic book
No,Don’t you see I am reading it
Are you going to give me ? Pehle mujhe Mila tha
Never , Do whatever you can!
(and the fight starts)
So if you are 90s kids then you must have fight like this with your siblings.Comic books were such a quintessential things at that time.whenever it would come in hand we start reading it voraciously so that other members may not snatch it in middle. Also the timing of reading also not justified.one can read while eating, sleeping , watching TV , ofcourse not while playing. The thrill and humour associated with comic books were always able to overwhelm our emotions and while reading we were transported into the world ,comic wanted us to take to and coming out was herculean task if there was no mom’s rebuke.
In those days , we considered those friends as paradigm for us,who has read a lots of comic books and has made piles by collection.when he was generous enough, we used to get 2-3 books from them at the promise of returning them.at that time listening music or watching T.V could not juxtapose it.
But gradually everything changed.the change was not so fast so that we can make excuse that couldn’t be noticed rather it can be said – “we kept becoming slave in the hand of newer technologies” and forgot foremost one. This could be contrasted with the child abandoning his previous toys when he gets the new one.you will hardly find any nowadays born child engaged in books instead of tablet and mobiles. They have been priveliged with such kind of facilities at very tender age.its not the case of 21st century , it’s the case of how mentality changed.Gone are the days where “Champak , Nandan , Chacha Choudhary, Nagraj and some English comics were in tradition” Also ‘Dadi Amma ki kahaniya’ has lost its existence because Dadi feels herself belittled before cellphone.Only TV remote and mobile’s are snatched among siblings.
I remembered today about my comic book and am still searching it in my bookself, beneath the bed ,beyond the wardrobe,in the storeroom,on the study table or in between some books , I have kept because of fear of being snatched or due to fear of teacher and many places but I can’t find it anywhere.
Should I ask my brother? He may have preserved it.
Absolutely I have no clue about your comic book, how was it ? he said.
Mom could have seen it, let’s ask her ,she knows the exact location of everything! Yes that will work!!
Yes, I remember your comic book but haven’t seen it for a long time.i couldn’t find it anywhere.
How could she find
It is not lost , it has become extinct !!

Champak is my favorite comic, too! When I was a kid, we used to get those comics from the library and me and my friends would spend hours reading , re reading and laughing at every page. It is a precious memory.

I come to this post directly when I saw the word Champak. I was also a reader of this book . Those short and colourful tales were my most interesting fantasy.
