“The Abandoned Game of Birds”

Have you ever seen ,

the birds playing

may be or may be not

but

i have seen recently

while sitting in balcony

scrounging the pages of book

just then

A flock of birds came

chirping

flying in a lots, i can’t count

enough to gain my attention

perching or rather hopping

from one branch to other

from tendril to tentacles

those thin tendrils,

serve the birds as cradle

and swing in the spring

which made us to loose the balance

but still our body rejoices

by the hazy movement of swing

The birds chirping’s intensity

goes to a new height

shrill and pitched

when they were chirping in unison

like a recess period in kinder-school

or like notice of summer vacation

just announced

I knew the game was on climax

and so was their excitement

they were trying to chase each other

but the other one flaps its wing and fly

making a loud shrill sound

like in childhood the game

touch and run , we used to play

some where hiding in the leaves

and the next moment

i thought of ‘Hide and Seek’

also their was a squirrel

near the branch , standing on two legs

enjoying as a spectator

as it is also thier favourite game

but due to shyness , he can’t speak

of the company in birds game

I only wished at the time

to have Salim on my side

he was the best bird watcher

who could make me understand

this pleasant sight

Oh!

but what happened , their voice

has changed into shriek from shrill

Not in unison ,not contionous

rather alternate

like warning or chiding their

friends or youngones respectively

of the coming danger

i guessed  something was wrong

Unless i located a black CAT

near them

One by one they all flown away

and the game was left incomplete

Squirrel also recedes in his drey

i don’t know whether the fear from Cat

or the game which no longer exist

I found this sight quite relative

As ages and ages hence

When someone try to intervene in the

children’s game

They either leave the game or the place

with the broken heart and lost case.
