What do you consider the crucial invention of the 21st century? Well, you might say cellphones but how can you forget the quintessence of earphones? If you’ll ask me the same question, my vote will go to earphones. Have you ever noticed the demeanour of earphones? The one which is always with you whenever you want to or even if you don’t want, he ( No, I am not reluctant to genderise the earphones because it must get the same respect as a human does for the indispensable service it bestows to you). He won’t mind travelling with you longer or shorter distances based on your choice, being confined to a small unrecognised space in your bag that too in darkness. Also, earphones in his life have done a plethora of workouts with persistence and hence has reduced his weight to a large extent so that he won’t trouble you much while accompanying you on your journey. In a city like Delhi, can you imagine to travel without him? certainly not! He whispers your favourite music directly into your years without disclosing your mood to the people around. The talk with your beloved ones goes on and on with his help as it bereft you from the dreadful rays of cellphones and its heating phenomenon. You can’t imagine a good companion than earphones in your whole life. Isn’t it?
Isn’t he also a indentured labour who doesn’t demand anything from you rather giving its honest services? Also, isn’t he bound with you until he faces some technical issues after which there is the breach in the relationship between you and him and you to have to throw it out? Even then he doesn’t complain and leaves you with a compassionate look, hoping someday you’ll pick it up to check whether he has mended his ways. Alas! But that poor technical stuff. He remains in his previous state. On contrary, you also don’t have enough time to spare to get his state checked though he was omnipresent in every situation of your life whether it’s happy or sad. Instead, you are too busy, looking for a replacement for him by scrounging the shopping sites and checking its specification or visiting some fancy mobile/accessories stores. How can you so easily forget his dedicated and honest service for months, that too without uttering a word in the complaint? No, no- You are not doing justice to him. He needs some greater honour. But the question which comes here is how?
Take him on another journey and drop him from the height? Or simply throw it? Or decorate it with garland? You can’t do that actually because he is tangled among himself and garland would suppress him to micro size. Oh! Why would one waste money on travelling just for earphones? Garland is also a useless idea since the odour makes no difference to earphones. After all, he is just a material object i.e he is no he, he is only it and who cares for ‘it’ if ‘it’ can’t be ‘he’. Even if it becomes him, would you take care of him?
If yes, then ‘it’ would never disappoint you and you don’t have to look for any more he’s!!!
