Perching under the vast stretches of sky, some on the naked wire carrying high current, a few on the signboards – still deciding which way to go and most of them on the ground, picking grains, the uncaged birds have their own ballad which sings about their journey.
The grains, unfurled by the old man who sits in the sun light on a pedestal at the intersection of the roads, ceiling himself by a tattered umbrella, is hopeful about two things, the first one- to sell maximum of his grains and the second- the birds should get enough for themselves and their families. I am not sure to which he wants more but the two appears to me inter-related. For instance, if he sells the maximum of the grain, the bird would be well fed and he would also get the requisite money for his survival. The birds happiness ( here eating stomach full of grains) is directly linked with old man’s livelihood. Isn’t it?
The uncaged birds relationship with human functions both ways i.e giving and receiving happiness but is it same for the caged one?
I don’t think so!!! The reason is- caged birds can never be happy despite how much and well you feed them. Similarly, the man who feeds them couldn’t be happy because he has seized the freedom of someone.
Live freely and let others live freely!
