The story of how I came to know about this book is fascinating. On one of my visits to the theatre, the first time at NSD (National School of Drama, New Delhi), a play was organised on the eve of Kargil Diwas and luckily I was able to book a free pass. Prior to the play, NSD made arrangements to felicitate the ‘mothers’ of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation. Among them, Meena Nayyar, mother of Capt. Anuj Nayyar (martyr, Kargil, at the age of 23) was also honoured. In her speech, she unveiled this book, encapsulating the life and journey of her son from Delhi to IMA, followed by posting in J & K and then sacrificing his life while capturing Pimple 2 in the valleys of Kashmir.

This book, I would say, is more than a biography as it is adorned with pictures, testimonials, opinions and letters sent by Anuj to his family members. To those who have any inclination toward ‘Indian Defence’. It’s enough to impart excessive willpower and courage to your soul. Others can also read it as inspiration if Non-fiction/biography interests you. The language is kept simple so that anyone can read it easily.

The rest talking will be done by the book as you’ll read.
