Dear Krish,

I came to know about your engagement date and felt extremely elated. Moreover, marrying the girl of your choice, the one whom you’ve fallen in love with is a one-of-a-kind feeling. Finally, you’ve got someone to talk to, to share your feelings and plan your trip with. Call her a better half or fiancee, I am happy that my burden will be reduced. Haha XD. You know; To love and be loved is everything.

This is the second innings of your life and I am sure you’re prepared for it. I know you’re more considerate than me but still, a word of advice from your dearest friend. You won’t be a bachelor, a few months from now; living like a vagabond and doing whatever you want. You’ll have to share your space with someone. You might have to compromise with several things but it’s not a big deal, especially for the person you love. Your responsibility has doubled i.e. you’ve to care for her family along with yours. You’ll have to make difficult choices at certain times to keep everyone happy but both of us know that it’s not practically possible. I expect you to make a wise decision.

I wish I could be there in person to celebrate this happiness. I am grateful that you invited me but you very well know the kind of work I am engaged in. Research is a continuous process. It doesn’t allow me to take many holidays. Nonetheless, I’ll definitely try to attend your wedding ceremony. Please let me know the dates in advance so that I can apply for leave. Sending booked tickets for the dates of the function will ensure my presence. In fact, I will be coming a couple of days before the function so that I can take the charges of catering or decoration. You always gave your best whenever there was any function, be it of any friend or relative. I don’t want you to end up working on your own wedding.

Do write about your engagement function. Attach some pictures if possible. Will be glad to be the part of your happiness.

There were certain turns of events or call it misunderstandings which couldn’t be reconciled till the date of the function. Hence, I had to cancel it. I am afraid to state that the wedding is quite unlikely to happen.

Dear Shashank,

Thanks for your concern but I am equally shocked as you are. For the last few days, my life has become a complete mess. I don’t know who is at fault. My fate or me. Seems like I am very unlucky in these matters. I can’t even imagine that I considered myself the luckiest person a fortnight ago. Certain turn of events, a revelation and look where I am. I don’t know. It feels like I am born to suffer.

I know you’re eager to know the story but I am not a writer like you. Nonetheless, I can narrate the story to you. It may help in easing a part of my pain. Meet me soon if possible.

Remember, ‘Hope’ and ‘Trust’ are the most deceiving words, friend.
