Book Review: Aarambh hai Prachand

What could be the possible difference between poetry and music? Poetry originated from those bards who used to sing stories and verses while travelling. Poetry turns into music when it’s accompanied with musical instrument.

In contemporary times, reading poems has become mostly an academic endeavour. Can you recall the last time you picked up any poetry collection in your leisure? What about reciting them? When did you last recite any poem in front of an audience?

Aarmabh-ha-prachand
Music everywhere!

Who doesn’t know Piyush Mishra and his versatile acting? A renowned theatre and film personality, the moment we hear his name, movies like Gangs of Wassepur, Gulal, and Arjun-the warrior prince flash in our memory. An interesting fact is that he not only acted in the movies but also composed poems for them.

Just wanted to let the readers know that this is not exactly a review since the critical part is missing. Just wanted to share my experience.

This book, as illustrated in the preface by Mishra, arose from the wish of his fans and followers, who wanted his songs to be collected in one place. It collects 94 poems from different films, portraying the vivid aspects of life. The poems are as thoughtful as Ik bagal me chand hoga, Jab sehar hamara sota hai, O raat ke musafir, as motivating as Aarambh hai Prachand (featured in title), as funny and humorous as pyara sa alien. The poems in the book have been part of movies like Gulal, Gangs of Wassepur, Chakki, Arjun, Johny Johny Yes Papa, Mahakumbh (TV Serial) and others. You might have heard many of them.

The book collects poems from several aspects, thus taking you through a range of emotions. Unlike the poetry book, you’ll start muttering the songs while going through them, proving their lyrical quality. If you’re missing some poetry in your life, you should grab this book at the first opportunity.
