I never related more to any theatre as the theatre of absurd!
Stage Directions:
A dilapidated house-like structure on the stage. Things are littered here and there in the room. A part of the stage consists of a kitchen where a vessel is kept on the stove, covered by a plate. Two characters, dressed in bohemian style, are sitting around it with their faces toward the audience. They are cooking something. Footlights on them, whereas the rest of the stage is faintly illuminated. Sounds of boiling water can be heard. The third character is in the room, mopping the room with a bucket full of water with a mug in it. He repeatedly forces the mug into the water and spills a volume on the floor.
Dialogues:
1st Character (exclaiming). Wat! Wat! Wat!
2nd Character (confused). What? What? What??
1st Character (in the same tone). Watt! Watt! Watt!
2nd Character (more confused). White? White? White?
1st Character (pointing toward the vessel). Watt! Watt! Watt!
2nd Character (guessing). Ian Watt?
1st Character (shaking head in negative and again pointing to the vessel). Watt! Watt! Watt!
2nd Character (in the manner of guessing). Alan Watt?
1st Character (in the same manner). J. Watt! J. Watt! J. Watt!
3rd Character (loud from the room). Eureka! Eureka! Eureka!
1st and 2nd Character (exclaiming). Einstein! Einstein! Einstein!
3rd Character (nodding). No! No! No!
1st Character (confused). Watt? Watt? Watt?
2nd Character (questioning). What? What? What?
The third character enters into the kitchen, whereas the first and the second jump swiftly into the room.
3rd Character (pointing toward the vessel). James Watt?
1st and 2nd Character (While pointing toward the bucket). Archimedes?
All the characters come to the upstage centre. Lights on them.
Boiling water displaces the plate and spills some water in the kitchen
1st, 2nd and 3rd Character (in unison). No! No! No!
1st Character. Water boils
2nd Character. Becomes vapour
3rd Character. And throws my mug away.
1st Character. Throws my plate out
3rd Character (pointing). Spills water in the room
2nd Character (pointing). Yes! It spills water in the kitchen
1st Character (thinks). Archemedies throws my plate out
3rd Character (thinks). Watt throws my mug away.
2nd Character (thinks). Archimedes and Watt spill water on the floor.
Repeated chants of “Archimedes and Watt spill water on the floor” by all three characters while they keep exchanging their places from the kitchen to the room and vice versa.
Lights fade out as their voice dies!
